Pedicure 101

As spring thaws out the country and warmer temperatures creep back into our days,  we can't help but get excited about digging out our favorite sandals from the back of our closets.  Our toes are tired of being cramped in boots and tennis shoes, and unfortunately, they look it.  Winter is hard on anyone's feet, and here at Beauty of a site, we're ready to  help you get your toes back in the game.  Here are the steps we swear by for getting your toes ready for summer!
  • Start with a good soak. As with any part of your body, your feet need hydration to heal. Avoid getting pruney, but make sure your skin is good and damp.
  • Use a refining scrub like OPI's Tropic Citrus Scrub. The scrub will gently exfoliate surface impurities and dry skin, as well as any dirt that can hide between your toes.
  • Scrub away at more stubborn calluses around your heels & the balls of your feet with a foot file.  Be careful to scrub gently and to keep your feet damp.
  • Rinse your feet and pat dry.  Apply an intensely moisturizing foot creme, like Deep Steep Candy Mint Foot Cream, to deeply hydrate your feet.  Plus, this foot cream has a fun cooling sensation!
  • If you're having trouble with calluses on your heels, try using an intense moisture stick, like Get Fresh's Poor Soles Moisture Stick.  Especially when you're on the go & then notice some dry spots on your feet, this stick is a quick spot treatment for any dry skin.  Toss it in your purse for emergencies!
  • Trim your toenails to the desired length, but make sure and finish shaping them with a nail file.  Rounding the corners slightly will help you avoid ingrown toenails.
  • Apply Orly Bonder Base Coat to your nails.  This rubberized basecoat entends the life of the polish and protects your nails from discoloration.  Allow base coat to dry thoroughly.
  • Apply two coats of your favorite OPI Nail Lacquer.  We suggest one of the OPI Designer Series Colors.  They're bright & shimmery- perfect for summer!  (Wanna see these colors on our nails?  We tried them on & posted pictures on our blogClick here to check 'em out!)
  • Apply Zoya Armor Topcoat over dry polish as a long-wearing, face drying top coat.  Pedicures need to set quickly when you're on the go, so this super-quick product is perfect!
  • Show off your new pedi with the cutest shoes you can find!  To keep your pedicure fresh, reapply topcoat every 3-4 days and keep lotion on your feet.
